Greenjets welcomes the launch of Project Safari, a joint Ministry of Defence and QinetiQ programme to open the UK’s test and evaluation (T&E) facilities to SMEs.
As one of the SME representatives named in the announcement, we joined a roundtable at MOD Hebrides hosted by Luke Pollard MP, Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, and QinetiQ Group CEO Steve Wadey. Drawing on our experience as a growing aerospace company working with defence, we shared the barriers smaller firms can face, from identifying suitable test sites to navigating multiple layers of approval.
Safari tackles both directly, with a single front door to T&E facilities and improved approval processes for trials. Together, these should shorten the path from testing to deployment and help new technologies reach service faster.
We look forward to continuing to work with the MOD and industry partners to share lessons learned and support the development of future capability.
